What is the History of Mughal Empire ?

History of Mughal Empire

The history of Mughal Empire was a dynasty of Central Asian and Indian origin that ruled India from 1526 to 1857. The Mughals were descendants of the Mongol and Turkish warriors who invaded India and established a powerful empire that lasted for three centuries.

The Mughal Empire was founded by Babur, a prince from the Chaghatai Mongol tribe in Central Asia, who established himself as the ruler of India in 1526 after defeating the last Sultan of Delhi, Ibrahim Lodi. Babur was followed by his son Humayun, who faced several challenges, including political instability and military threats, but was eventually able to reclaim the throne with the help of his trusted advisor Bairam Khan.

The most famous Mughal emperor was Akbar, who ruled from 1556 to 1605. Akbar was known for his religious tolerance and efforts to promote a harmonious relationship between different religions in India. He also expanded the Mughal Empire, establishing it as one of the largest and most powerful empires in the world.

Jahangir, Akbar’s son, ruled from 1605 to 1627 and was known for his love of art, science, and culture. He was also a patron of architecture, commissioning many grand buildings and monuments, including the famous Taj Mahal.

Shah Jahan, Jahangir’s son, ruled from 1628 to 1658 and was also known for his love of architecture and patronage of the arts. He built the Taj Mahal, one of the world’s most famous monuments, in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal.

The Mughal Empire reached its peak during the reign of Aurangzeb, who ruled from 1658 to 1707. Aurangzeb was a devout Muslim who imposed Islamic laws and customs on India, causing a lot of conflict and unrest. His strict policies ultimately contributed to the decline of the Mughal Empire.

The History of Mughal Empire continued to decline after Aurangzeb’s death, facing challenges from rival kingdoms, internal corruption, and economic instability. The empire finally ended in 1857 with the Indian Rebellion of 1857, when the British East India Company took control of India and established the British Raj.
